The following guide is strictly for patients prescribed with Compounded Tirzepatide 50mg or 75mg. Other treatment length such as 4 x 2.5mg Compounded Tirzepatide should follow your doctor's guidance during the consultation.
What you'll need
Your Tirzepatide medication
A syringe with needle
Alcohol swabs
A sharps disposal container
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Prepare your supplies
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Gather your medication vial, syringe, and alcohol swabs. Check that your medication is clear and colorless, do not use if it looks cloudy, discolored, or has particles.
Maintain sterility by using a new, sterile syringe for each dose and avoid touching the needle or letting it come into contact with non-sterile surfaces.
Step 2: Clean the vial
Wipe the rubber stopper of the vial with an alcohol swab and let it air dry.
Ensure the vial is thoroughly wiped with the alcohol swab to prevent contamination.
Step 3: Draw your dose
Remove the needle cap from your syringe
Pull back the plunger to draw air equal to your prescribed dose
Insert the needle into the vial's rubber stopper
Push the air into the vial
Turn the vial upside down and slowly pull back the plunger to draw your prescribed dose
Check for air bubbles, if you see any, gently tap the syringe and push them back into the vial, then redraw to the correct dose
Step 4: Choose your injection site
Inject into your abdomen, at least 2 inches away from your belly button. Rotate your injection site each week to prevent irritation, don't inject in the same spot twice in a row.
Step 5: Clean the injection site
Wipe the area with a fresh alcohol swab and let it air dry completely.
Step 6: Inject your medication
Pinch a fold of skin at the injection site
Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle (straight in)
Push the plunger down slowly and steadily until all medication is injected
Wait 5-10 seconds before withdrawing the needle
Release the skin fold and remove the needle
Step 7: After your injection
Do not rub the injection site, light pressure is okay if needed
Dispose of your used syringe and needle in a sharps container immediately
Never reuse or recap needles
Safety Warnings
Never transfer Tirzepatide into your own syringes or other containers to verify amounts as this can compromise sterility and medication quality.
Do not attempt to refill or manipulate medication; always follow instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
