Where Should I Inject?

Recommended injection site (abdomen) and how to rotate sites to prevent irritation.

Choosing the right injection site helps ensure effective treatment and minimizes discomfort.

Recommended injection site: Abdomen (stomach)

The abdomen is the recommended injection site for your medication.

How to choose your spot

  • Use the area around your belly button, but stay at least 2 inches (about 3 finger-widths) away from the belly button itself

  • Avoid areas with scars, bruises, or stretch marks

  • Avoid areas that are red, tender, or hard

Rotate your injection sites

  • Don't inject in the exact same spot each time. Start from one side (for example left side) of your belly button, then move to the opposite side the next week.

  • Rotating sites helps prevent:

    • Skin irritation

    • Lumps or hard spots under the skin

    • Reduced medication absorption

How to rotate

Think of your abdomen as a clock. Each week, move to a different "hour" position around your belly button, keeping at least 2 inches away from the center.

Always switch between the left side and right side to give the injection site time to heal and rest.

Tips for comfortable injections

  • Relax your muscles, tension makes it hurt more

  • Use a quick, confident motion when inserting the needle

  • Ice the area briefly before injection if you're nervous
